Welcome

Message from the President Marina King

Welcome to the Santa Barbara Area Council of PTAs. My name is Andrea Carrara and I am a parent of a college student, and a San Marcos High School Sophomore. I’ve been actively involved with the PTA since my first child started Kindergarten and have previously served on the boards of Vieja Valley School PTA, La Colina Junior High PTSA, and Santa Barbara Area Council of PTAs in various positions.
I am accepting invitations to attend your PTA Board or Association meetings so I can meet you in person and talk to you about your Unit’s needs. Please feel free to contact me if you have any requests for support or suggestions for topics to be presented at the Council’s Association meetings.

Santa Barbara Area Council of PTAs serves 25 schools in the Santa Barbara/Goleta area. We are here to make sure the PTA Units are in good standing, to provide help with training and documents update, and to support your school PTA in any way we can. In addition, we feature the following events annually:

  • Training: With the assistance of the 15th District PTA and State PTA, we offer online and in-person training for your PTA board. We also offer individual support and financial information when needed.
  • Association Meetings: A great opportunity for PTA board members from all schools to network, learn more about PTA and resources in the community, and vote on important PTA-related motions.
  • Reflections: Each year we participate in the themed National PTA Reflections visual art/performing arts competition. You can find details at www.capta.org. Consult your school to see if they are participating and find out when the deadline is. Our Council holds a reception in January or February each  year to honor students who are promoted to  Council (citywide) and District (county) level.
  • Honorary Service Awards Reception: At the end of May each year, held at the County Schools Auditorium. If your school participates in the PTA Honorary Service Awards program, we would like to honor your honorees as well with a dinner and ceremony of recognition. Please let us know if you are participating

Hope to meet you soon!

Sincerely,
Andrea Carrara
